Best Treadmills
Treadmills are personalized equipment – a treadmill that works well for one may turn out to be a back breaker for another. While buying a treadmill, it is good to go through the manual and see whether it has the features you desire. It is even better if you try out the treadmill for a while before zeroing in on the purchase.
Among treadmills, the most expensive is not necessarily the best. It all depends on what exercises you are looking to do. If you want to walk, then a belt with a lesser width and length would do just fine. For exercises such as jogging and sprinting, wider and longer belts are required. While buying treadmills, the most important parts to be considered are the deck and the belt. The belt must be free to rotate without jagging or sagging, and must not tilt to one side as it runs along. The deck must be heavy enough to remain unmoved on the floor, without getting the leveling disturbed again and again.
Safety features must also be considered, especially if there are children. Certain treadmills require keys to operate. Also check that the handrails are within reach while working out. Gripping the handrail must not create undue pressure.
Consider how many people at home are going to use the treadmill before using it. If there is more than one person, then it is better to go for one which has customized controls for each person. In features such as heartbeat and blood pressure counter, identification with passwords at the computer console enables you to keep track of your personal information without confusing it with others’. Also, if multiple people are going to work out on the treadmill, it is better to purchase a sturdier one, even though it may be more expensive. Maintenance should also be undertaken more often.
Judging by the opinions of treadmill users, Landice and Smooth remain favorites. Landice is an old hand in the business, and has changed very little. Landish treadmills are still quite conservative when it comes to features, though now they are putting in several appealing modifications. Landice treadmills are also quite expensive. Smooth treadmills remain preferable for home users. They are sleek and can also work for a fairly good amount of time. Weslo is a good brand, and its treadmills are often priced at the lower end of the spectrum, making them economically viable buys.
It is important to check out what warranties are provided by treadmill manufacturers before purchasing. Treadmills contain moving parts, such as the motor, deck and belt, which makes them more susceptible to malfunction.

Elliptical Trainers VS Treadmills! – Is One Better?
For many years the Treadmill has held the number one spot as the most popular type of exercise equipment on the market. The Elliptical trainer, however, has been quickly gaining popularity and is now catching up with the treadmill. The rise of the elliptical trainer in popularity has brought up the now common question; should I get an elliptical trainer or treadmill? Which one is better?
The fact is that they are both excellent types of exercise equipment. They both offer an effective cardiovascular workout to strengthen the cardiovascular system and aid in the prevention of health problems such as heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Most experts feel that they are equally effective in burning calories. So what is the difference? Let’s take a closer look.
Treadmills
Anyone who can walk can use a treadmill. It provides a form of exercise that anyone can feel comfortable with because it is a natural activity people do every day. Walking and running are the most popular forms of exercise people engage in which accounts for the treadmills huge popularity. Treadmills can also simulate hill climbing by changing the incline and intensity for a more intense lower body workout. One limitation of the treadmill though is that it works only the lower body. The user can incorporate the upper body, however, by carrying dumbbells and swinging the arms.
Another point to consider about treadmill workouts is that walking and running are forms of impact exercise that can cause varying degrees of impact on the lower body joints, especially the hips, knees and ankles. This can have a significant effect on people, especially seniors, that may suffer from lower joint pain. Impact exercise is not always a bad thing. The impact experienced while working out on a treadmill helps to create greater bone density which in turn results in stronger bones. Building greater bone density is very important, especially for women are more likely to suffer from diseases such as osteoporosis as they get older.
The ultimate goal you are trying to accomplish is also an important factor in determining if a treadmill is best for you. If you are an avid runner training for an event you will want a workout that best simulates actual running so a treadmill could be your perfect choice.
Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers have increased greatly in popularity due to their fluid motion which causes little impact on the lower body. Elliptical trainers are sometimes favored by people with lower joint pain and trainers working with patients going through rehabilitation from knee and hip injuries due to the lack of impact which works the muscles of the lower body without putting stress on the joints. This lack of impact also results in significantly fewer injuries than with treadmills and less wear and tear on the fitness equipment itself.
Elliptical trainers also have handle bars which provide for an upper body workout. Therefore, users can get a full body workout instead of just working the lower body. This in turn allows for a more efficient cardiovascular workout as users are able to achieve their target heart rate in less time due to the use of the upper and lower body together. Many elliptical trainers also feature reverse action which allows the user to pedal in reverse working a different set of muscles. Pedaling in reverse allows targeting of the quadriceps which is difficult to accomplish using a treadmill.
Many physiologists have noted that the physical response of the body to treadmill and elliptical workouts are very similar. The lack of impact on the lower body during the elliptical workout, however, gives the user the perception of less effort exerted to burn the same amount of calories. This is commonly referred to as lower perceived exertion and can result in the feeling of a less strenuous and more enjoyable workout. This can be an important factor in sticking with an exercise program.
So Is One Better?
The bottom line is that treadmills and elliptical trainers both provide excellent cardiovascular workouts and are great choices for most workout programs. The decision is a matter of preference and matching fitness or rehabilitation goals to the exercise equipment you choose.

About the Author:
Be sure to take into consideration your ultimate goal, your physical condition and what type of workout you feel most comfortable with and are most likely to stay with when choosing a treadmill or elliptical trainer. You can get an effective workout no matter what you choose. Always remember though, the results you get are dependent on the effort that you put in.
Treadmills – Advantages And Disadvantages
Treadmills are a great piece of exercise equipment, not only do you get to exercise your legs, your arms also get to work out as well. Treadmills also have speed settings, so you can choose the speed that is right for you. Beginners can start with a small jog. While more experienced runners can move up the speed settings quicker. There are of course disadvantages when owning a treadmill the most notable being price. However all will be uncovered in this article.
The advantages of owning a treadmill or vast in number. For example if you do like to go jogging but find that the weather is not ideal, then all you have to do is simply get on the treadmill and you can jog while the weather gets better or worse. Having this kind of freedom means that no matter what kind of weather you have there is now no reason that you can’t do some exercise.
Also if you are a beginner when you purchase your treadmill then you can control the pace. You choose the speed that best suits you and then you can gradually pick up the pace as you start to feel your legs getting stronger. Also when you feel your endurance levels get higher you can keep running for longer, therefore getting more and more healthy as you are running and being able to run for longer periods of time.
Another advantage to owning a treadmill is the fact that you can do mini-workouts during the day. You can take just 20 minutes in the morning, then do the same in the afternoon and then in the evening. This all adds up at the end of the day and can result in a lot of burnt calories as the weeks go by.
However owning a treadmill isn’t all that great. There are disadvantages that come with treadmills and here they are.
One disadvantage that does stick out all the time is the cost of a treadmill. Treadmills are not cheap to buy and you could be saving up for quite some time before you purchase one. Then there is the possibility of your new treadmill breaking down. If that does happen and you are out of your warranty then you are looking at a heavy price to get your treadmill fixed.
Another disadvantage is the fact that there is no variety. If you like to keep changing what you are doing in your work out then you will not want a treadmill. There is the option of being able to change the inclines, which can add a bit of variety. But apart from that there isn’t really much to keep die-hard trainers going.
Overall a treadmill is an expensive piece of equipment that doesn’t give the people using it much variety. If you really want to invest in a treadmill then take the time to get some thorough research on what one is best for you. But if you like variety in your work out then I would not recommend you making a purchase.

Electronic Treadmills
Electronic treadmills could just as easily be called treadmills with an attitude: they don’t go as fast as you do; you go as fast as they do.
An electronic treadmill is equipped with a motor to drive the treadbelt and another to raise and lower the deck at an angle.
Most powered treadmills will attain speeds of up to 10 or 12 MPH and will raise to an angle of 10-12%. Commercial grade treadmills, those used in fitness clubs, training facilities, and weight loss salons, like Star Trac and Smooth Fitness models, will go even faster and steeper.
Control Freaks
What gives powered treadmills their attitude, though, is electronic workout programming.
Most machines have several preset workout programs that automatically adjust speed and angle to mimic a run over differing terrain or a specific technique like interval training or power walking.
Some include programs that are designed for optimum calorie loss in weight loss programs, and others have heart rate monitors that keep your workout in an optimum zone for fitness conditioning and cardiovascular health.
In other words, you do what the machine wants you to do, and for many people, that’s a good thing.
Powered treadmills vary in capabilities and features, of course. Those who just want an exercise machine for light training, walking, or power walking can get by with less expensive models with smaller running surfaces and a more limited amount of programming.
Depending on your size, plan on spending around $1000, give or take a couple hundred.
Heavy individuals and those interested in running and sports training will want a treadmill allowing a longer stride, more power, a stronger deck with greater cushioning and stability, and more variations in the electronic programs and workouts available.
They can plan on spending well over a thousand and on up to several thousand dollars.

Treadmill Reviews – Epic T60 – A Walker’s Treadmill
There are many treadmills in the market today. So it becomes difficult sometimes to make a good choice according to your needs. The best way however is to consult treadmill reviews. You can read both customer reviews as well as expert reviews. They are generally unbiased and help you make the right choice.
Today, I will discuss Epic T60 with you. This is a good pick for the walkers. My rating is 4/5. Here, goes the other details:
Epic T60 is rightly called as a machine with new limits, on the wheels of economy. Once you purchase this, you will have everything at your disposal- a strong built-up body, all necessary features and workout programs with a good amount of warranty time period. With an impeccable treadmill design, you will get all the workout comfort that you might be looking for in your treadmill machine.
This T60 model by Epic is predominantly an equipment which is best-suited to your home gym. It is light-weighted and needs less space to accommodate itself. It comes with state-of-the-art cushioned platforms that are adjustable in nature. Besides this, the surface is large enough for giving you a comfortable running or walking. The machine is capable of supporting 350 pounds of total body weight.
The most important part of any treadmill is the quality of its motor. The machine features a powerful and durable motor that can support both types of running: light and intense. The machine also provides you a general sports training feature, with the contemporary treadmill workouts. And not to forget, for your comfort the machine also features power inclination. So you can adjust the inclination, whenever you want, according to your needs.
Epic T60 comes to you with readout displays that help you to keep tab on the total time of your exercising, calories burnt while exercising, the speed and the total distance. The machine also has a pulse sensor grip that helps you to measure your pulse during the workout session. Besides this, another add-on feature that this treadmill machine carries is the presence of certain feedback displays.
The T60 model by Epic has pre-programmed workout programs installed on it. All these programs are customized. They flaunt the latest technology, which is known as iFit. iFit is one of the most developed interactive workout technology that is available in the sports industry today. iFit is user friendly and acts like a remote control of your machine.
Working of iFit is very simple. Sample this. The chest sensor, which is an option available on the T60 machine, can be controlled with the iFit technology. This will be done in accordance to your heart rate that will be displayed on the heart rate reader. The iFit technology will, like a trainer, provide you with guidance of a good workout program.
And to add on to this, this is without doubt a folding treadmill. The motor of the machine comes with a warranty of four years. All these things make Epic T60 treadmill a good buy for your fitness.
The Model T60 comes for $800 and thus provides true value to your money. But there are some downsides to this purchase as well. Some users are not satisfied with the quality of its parts. Perhaps that is the reason for its limited warranty.
Furthermore, this is a walking treadmill. For all joggers or runners, it is not the pick. They need to spend some where above $1,300.

Proform 585 V Perspective Treadmill Review
The Proform 585 V Perspective treadmill is near to the top end of Proform’s extensive range of treadmills and is to our knowledge the lowest price machine in the UK to have a TV in the console!
You’ll either love the TV or think it’s a waste of space. The 7 inch screen can play both TV or DVD via RCA jack socket but it does take a while to adjust to it when running – but it’s a pretty good picture. Some of us on the team thought it was a distraction from the training whilst others liked to have something to take their mind off the effort and felt they could train longer and harder as a result.
But let’s remember we’re talking about a fitness machine and not a home entertainment system.
So how does it perform as a treadmill? The Proform 585V has an impressive selection of programmes – 26 in total – 20 pre-set plus four heart rate controlled programmes to maximise your session for fat loss and improving fitness. It also has two customisable programmes for you to set your own challenge.
A good choice of programmes is a great bonus on any fitness machine and when you combine the 585v’s selection with it’s iFit Journal software you’re on to a winner. The iFit software is a well-designed feature that helps you track your progress and plan changes in your training depending on your performance. This sort of feature can only help you reach and maintain your fitness goals.
As with all reviews the comments of the reviewers are subjective and down to the preferences of each individual. Some felt the 585V Perspective’s deck was too bouncy and didn’t like the feel of it, whilst others loved the softness and thought it was great for their knees and felt they could run for longer.
Perhaps if you’re overweight or recovering from an injury or have a history of joint problems this would be a good deck to run on. The ProShox PlusTM Impact Absorption System helps to reduce impact by up to 32% which again is useful for larger runners. However, if you like road-running this may not be for you.
The machine felt stable at it’s useful top speed of 12mph and the 2.25 HP motor felt up to the job and fairly quiet in operation.
The warranty is good, it comes With lifetime frame cover, 5 years on the motor and 2 years full on site parts and labour.
Conclusion
The Proform 585 V Perspective is packed with features and includes some great programmes including 4 heart control options. It looks great and has a quality feel about it. For the energy conscious it has a low energy rating so it’s not too tough on your electricity bill. The bouncy feel to the deck would suit some but not all and whilst some thought the TV was a gimmick, others loved it – each to their own. Aside from the gadgets the extensive choice of programmes and the iFit software are great selling points and would help anyone meet their fitness goals. On the whole we loved it!

Each Lifestyler treadmill comes with a motor that has a slightly different specification. The motor is a piece of machine which will get very heavy use and costs an awful lot to replace or repair, so it is worth for users while buying a Lifestyler treadmill to get one which is around 2HP. If noise pollution is going to be a problem while using Lifestyler treadmill, then users can pick the model which has a DC motor, as it will be inherently quieter than the pure AC versions.
Lifestyler treadmill models incorporate aspects such as operate quietly, easy storage, etc that make them good fit for home usage. Lifestyler treadmills offer high end performance.
